With spring around the corner, it is time to take a look at your outdoor space. Outdoor & Indoor cushions

When a friend asked me to make  outdoor cushions for her nice pool area, I was ready for the task. We chose a great patterned outdoor fabric, decided on the piping color, did all the custom measurements on all pool furniture. It included four chaise lounges and two pool reclining chairs. The outdoor fabric was going to unite them all in a beautiful custom design.
For the outdoor foam we used a special outdoor foam that lets water pass right through and has excellent air circulation. This foam has an exploded open cell construction which allows liquids to flow right through, and humidity to rapidly evaporate, instead of acting like a moisture trapping sponge. To cut the foam, we used electric knife for the exact and clean cut.

Making the canopy

Making the canopy was a fun project. I didn’t want to use an old world coronet, but something more playful, more appropriate for a 5 year-old girl. The flowers were perfect, plus their blue color was exactly what we needed for our color pallette. 

Getting the flowers up and securely into the wall was by far the most challenging part of the whole process. My wonderful handyman came to the rescue. And here is the final product. Check out the photos to document the process. Aren't they lovely?

Making a room for a 5 year old girl.

Designing the room for a little girl was a dream come true from a creative point of view. The mom of the little girl was so on board with every suggestion I had and gave me a free hand to be creative.

The little girl came up with her color scheme ; she liked the purple and turquoise colors so we started to work with that. Her new bedding gave us a lot of ideas how to combine the existing colors with new ones. The three new pieces of furniture were custom remade to match the color of the bed.

This chandelier is no doubt a star of the room.   Because  we couldn’t place it in the middle of the room due to the much needed fan already occupying the prime spot, it was installed in the nook. The space instantly went glamourous and the sparkly curtains I made for the windows reflected the light on the glitzy sparkles in the dark.

The vanity with the vanity stool was a big hit and I hope it will be useful as the little girl grows. It was one of my treasure finds, and after I gave it a makeover (see the Before & After page) the art deco furniture came alive in full shine.

The beautiful fairy has it own magic;  I liked the sharp contrast of the dark purple fairy decal on the light colored wall. She is sharp:)

The cornices on the window treatments were made in the more classical style with a great modern fabric to complement the purple color scheme in the room.

The magic of upholstery.

Out with the old, in with the new. No doubt, these older pieces of furniture came back to life with the little magic of upholstery.
The little piano bench received a new cushion and with the colorful fabric looks like new.

The dining room chairs were fantastic quality, sturdy. Their original vinyl covers were all torn up and the cushions were ripped.
Yes, the upholstery is a very tedious job, detail oriented that requires a lot of patience. But the results are worth it. Check them out in the before and after photos.
